Overview: these devices receive the Android 10.0 (Q) update

Android 10.0 Q updateGoogle will release Android 10.0 (Q) later this year, but many manufacturers will have to bring that update to other smartphones. In this overview, you can read which phones are likely to be updated, and therefore will have all the new features.

The large Android 10.0 (Q) update overview

There are hundreds of Android smartphones for sale in the United States, making it sometimes difficult to see the forest for the trees. In this list you will find at a glance which devices are likely to receive Android Q. This is based on information that manufacturers have already provided, combined with our own expectations. We of course update this overview regularly, so as soon as a manufacturer has made more known about his update plans, you can read it here.

By the way, we have indicated if and when a smartphone will receive an update. Above all: everything is subject to change. The plans of manufacturers sometimes want to change, so that update appears later or even not at all. Moreover, it often takes several weeks or months for an update to be available worldwide. If you see that your smartphone has been updated in the United Kingdom, it does not immediately mean that the update is also available in the United States.

When can I download Android Q?

At the moment, Android Q is still in the beta phase, which means that only a few phones can run an early version of the new Android version. The good news is that the beta is not only available for Google’s own Pixel smartphones, but also devices from various other manufacturers are participating in the test program.

Examples of participating smartphones are the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, OnePlus 6 and 6T and Sony Xperia XZ3. Check our tip about installing the Android Q-beta for more information.

This Android 10.0 (Q) update overview was last updated on May 17, 2019.

The Finnish HMD Global, which is responsible for the Nokia smartphones, is the fastest to release updates on Google. A large part of Nokia’s line-up is being updated, although the 2017 devices are likely to be dropped because they have already received two major Android upgrades.

Nokia X71

  • Nokia 9 PureView (gets an update)

OnePlus

It is likely that the most recent smartphones from OnePlus will receive an update. The manufacturer is also reasonably quick with updating his smartphones. Older devices logically fall outside the boat.

Motorola Moto E6 render

  • OnePlus 7 Pro (gets an update)
  • OnePlus 7 (gets an update)
  • OnePlus 6T (gets an update)

  • OnePlus 5 (probably not getting an update)

  • OnePlus 3 (will not receive an update)

Motorola

Motorola is sometimes a bit slow with its updates. It will take six months or more for larger updates to appear. However, Motorola is fairly clear about which devices can expect a version update. It is obvious that the entire Moto G7 series and the Android One smartphones from the company will soon run on Android Q.

Motorola Moto G7 Plus video review

  • Motorola One Vision (gets an update)
  • Motorola One (gets an update)

Sony

When it comes to updates, Sony is an excellent party. Updates often appear a few weeks after Google releases them, making Sony faster than just about all manufacturers. Moreover, the company is fairly consistent and popular devices receive several major updates. The manufacturer still has to disclose his plans.

Sony Xperia 2

  • Sony Xperia 1 (gets an update)
  • Sony Xperia 10 (gets an update)
  • Sony Xperia 10 Plus (gets an update)

  • Sony Xperia XA2 Plus (gets an update)
  • Sony Xperia L3 (will not receive an update)
  • Sony Xperia L2  (will not receive an update)

HTC

In the past, HTC was very quick in updating its smartphones, but nowadays this is disappointing. The manufacturer is relatively in demand and very incomplete with its Android updates, making the prospects for Android 10.0 not promising.

HTC Android 9.0 update

  • HTC U12 Plus (may receive an update)
  • HTC U12 Life (will not receive an update)
  • HTC U11 (will not receive an update)
  • HTC U11 Plus (may receive an update)
  • HTC U11 Life (gets an update)

LG

LG’s update policy is very poor. The manufacturer is slow and quite incomplete with its updates Android 10.0. The most recent flagships are likely to be updated, but there is a good chance that that update will not appear until somewhere in the course of 2020.

LG smartphones

  • LG G8 ThinQ (gets an update)
  • LG G7 ThinQ (gets an update)
  • LG V50 ThinQ (gets an update)
  • LG V40 ThinQ (gets an update)
  • LG V30 (gets an update)

Xiaomi

Fortunately, Xiaomi finds it very important to keep his smartphones up-to-date and therefore gives the most important devices an Android 10.0, so it is expected. As soon as more is known about the plans of the Chinese company, we will update the list below.

Xiaomi Mi 9 SE

  • Xiaomi Mi A2 (gets an update)
  • Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite (gets an update)
  • Xiaomi Mi 9 (gets an update)
  • Xiaomi Mi 9 SE (gets an update)
  • Xiaomi Pocophone F1 (may receive an update)
  • Xiaomi Mi A1 (will not receive an update)
