Overview: we look at these 10 smartphones in 2019

Expected smartphones 2019Expected smartphones 2019 from many brands were released, and 2019 promises to be another busy year. But which devices really are worth the effort? Smartphone.nl puts ten expected smartphones together in 2019.

Expected smartphones 2019: lots of beautiful things to come

From OnePlus and Xiaomi to Samsung and Apple: all well-known brands will come next year with successors of their popular devices. Budget models, midrange and flagships: the choice will undoubtedly become giant. Prevent choice stress and check below (in random order) our top ten of expected smartphones in 2019.

1. Samsung Galaxy S10 series

Much is expected from the Samsung Galaxy S10. The device must be more innovative than the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, which are very similar to the S8 series and therefore do not sell as well. According to the rumors, the S10 appears in three versions: a Lite, the normal S10, and larger S10 Plus. The Lite seems to be an answer to the iPhone XR, Apple’s ‘affordable’ iPhone.

Samsung Galaxy S10 series

The regular S10 and S10 Plus would be very similar, just like the S8 and S9. The biggest difference seems to be the screen size: 6.1 versus 6.4 inches. The display would have a small hole at the top for the front camera. Furthermore, the phones get a fingerprint scanner under the screen, three to five cameras, and the latest Exynos 9820 chip.

Samsung is expected to perform the three Galaxy S10 models just before the start of the MWC technology fair. Rumors point to an announcement on 20 February. A few weeks later the smartphones would go on sale.

2. Honor View 20

Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei that makes comparable but slightly cheaper devices. That sounds simple, but Honor smartphones usually offer a good price/quality ratio. For that reason, we are looking forward to the Honor View 20, which will be announced on 22 January for the Dutch market. The phone gets a front-filling 6.2-inch screen with a small hole in front of the front camera. This design choice follows the notch.

The View 20 is equipped with a fast processor, a lot of work and storage memory and a special camera on the back. With a resolution of 48 megapixels, you make very sharp photos and you can probably also zoom in considerably without loss of quality. We are also curious about the 40 Watt fast charger, which we know from the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The quick charger must charge the battery within an hour.

3. Xiaomi Pocophone F2

Another manufacturer who achieved great success with a sub-brand this year is Xiaomi. The new Pocophone released the Pocophone F1 in 2018, a high-end phone with the price of a midrange. The smartphone has an unprecedented price/quality ratio, although it is not perfect. For example, the F1 lacks an NFC chip, you can not watch Netflix videos in HD quality and the back is made of plastic.

Xiaomi Pocophone F2

If the Pocophone F2 addresses these downs next year, it can become the best affordable smartphone of 2019. It is possible that the device is more expensive than its predecessor, although we still count on a competitive price. We are very curious if Xiaomi can surprise us.

4. iPhone 2019 series

That Apple will come with new iPhones next year is certain. How much it will become, that is a mystery. Presumably, there will be successors to the iPhone XS and XS Max, but who knows, the cheaper iPhone XR will get an update. Maybe also a new, smaller iPhone is released that will replace the iPhone SE.

iPhone 2019 series

Little can be said about the specifications of the new iPhone’s. The aircraft is not expected until September. Early rumors say that the phones, like their predecessors, get OLED screens and have no 5G support. That sounds logical, but on concrete information, we probably have to wait for months. Nevertheless, we are very curious how Apple will improve its iPhone’s, and of course how they will be called.

5. Huawei P30 Pro

The Huawei P20 Pro this year was the first smartphone with three cameras on the back. That does not only sound great, the triple camera also makes impressive photos and 4K videos. The P30 Pro also has powerful hardware, a long battery life, and a beautiful design. There Huawei can build on the P30 Pro, which probably in February or March sees the light of day.

There are few details about the smartphone, although he probably gets three or four cameras on the back. What is almost certain is the choice for the Kirin 980 processor. It is also in the new Mate 20 (Pro) and delivers excellent performance. Huawei expects to use the P30 Pro again for long battery life and a battery that charges fast.

6. Motorola Moto G7 models

Motorola has been making budget and midrange smartphones with almost stock Android and good specifications for years. Thanks to the attractive price tags, the manufacturer, part of Lenovo, is achieving excellent results with its Moto G-series. We are curious what the seventh generation is going to bring.

According to the rumors, four Moto G7 models appear and will arrive in February or March. The regular version probably has a 6.4-inch full-HD screen, Snapdragon 636 processor and large 3500 mAh battery. The Moto G7 phones would have a glass and metal housing with a front-filling display (see image above).

7. Huawei P Smart 2019

The Huawei P Smart (2018) belongs to the best budget smartphones of the past year. The phone has a nice design, has good specifications and is still competitively priced. We are therefore looking forward to his successor, the P Smart (2019). According to the latest rumors, the smartphone has a larger 6.2-inch full-HD screen, faster Kirin 710 processor and again a double camera on the back.

Huawei announced the P Smart (2019) probably in early January already. The suggested retail price is probably around 250 euros, which gives the phone a lot of value for money.

8. Sony Xperia XZ4

The most expensive Sony smartphones have been different for years than the average high-end phone. Although not everyone can appreciate that, the brand stands out from the rest. The coming XZ4 seems to continue that trend.

Rumors claim that the device does not get a notch and has a hefty 6.5-inch screen with a 21: 9 ratio. That is a lot longer than the 18: 9 to 19: 9 displays of other phones. Below is a render that allegedly shows the design of the Sony phone.

The Sony Xperia XZ4 would also get a 3.5-millimeter connection and run on the best hardware of 2019. Sources are about the fast Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB RAM and up to 256GB storage space. A triple camera would be present on the back. It seems that Sony will announce the XZ4 at the electronics fair MWC at the end of February.

9. OnePlus 7

OnePlus has been supplying high-end telephones for years with a very competitive price/quality ratio. In 2018 we were very pleased with the OnePlus 6 and slightly improved 6T, and therefore we are curious what the manufacturer has in store for us next year. We know that there is a special 5G smartphone, but it is still unclear whether it appears in the Netherlands. Moreover, the device will be a maximum of three hundred euros more expensive than the OnePlus 7, which makes the latter more interesting.

OnePlus 7

Unfortunately, we still know very little about the OnePlus 7 at the time of writing. It is likely that the phone runs on a lightning fast Snapdragon 855 chip with at least 6GB of memory. The storage space probably starts at 128GB. The price of the OnePlus 7 is still unknown, although it is possible that the smartphone is slightly more expensive than the 6T (from 559 euros). The OnePlus 7 is likely to be announced and released in the spring.

10. Google Pixel 4 line

Pixel smartphones from Google stand out because of the bare version of Android and fast and long update policy. In addition, the devices always have the best cameras, thanks to Google’s advanced camera software. It is especially these two points that make us very curious about the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, which probably will not come out until the autumn of 2019.

Can Google further improve its fantastic smartphone cameras? And how does the latest Android version look like? We also hope that Google will sell the fourth generation Pixels in the Netherlands because previous models are not officially released here.
