The Honor View 20 can be bought in the United States from the end of this month. It is one of the first Android smartphones with a ‘camera hole’ in the screen.
Release Honor View 20 United States confirmed
In China and the United States, Honor presented the View 20 before, but now the manufacturer has also announced a European release. From January 29 you can buy the Honor View 20 in the United States. The suggested retail price is 549 euros, and you have the choice of two colors: black and blue.
The Honor View 20 has a striking design, with a 6.4-inch screen that fills almost the entire front. At the top of the picture is a small hole for the 25-megapixel selfie camera. Honor, a subsidiary brand of Huawei, is one of the first manufacturers to provide smartphones with such a camera hole.
48-megapixel camera for 12-megapixel photos
On the back, you will find a fresh gradient color; different colors that blend into each other. There is also the primary camera of no less than 48 megapixels. The Honor device uses the so-called quad more bay technique to compress all those pixels, resulting in a very sharp 12-megapixel photo.
The same technique is also used on the Huawei P20 Pro and delivers beautiful pictures. With this set-up, you can also shoot sharp photos in the dark. On the back is also a 3D sensor, with which you can scan people and objects.
This Honor is equipped with the same powerful hardware as in the Huawei Mate 20. For example, there is a Kirin 980 chip with 6 or 8 GB memory and 128 GB storage space. The battery capacity is a spacious 4000 mAh; enough for a full day without charging. The fingerprint scanner is on the back and not on the screen. The Honor View 20 runs on Android Pie with the EmotionUI interface of the manufacturer.
Honor in attendance
Honor is still a pretty unknown name in the United States, but the parent company probably tells you something. The company is, in fact, part of Huawei. Where Huawei focuses on all kinds of consumers, Honor hopes to appeal to young people.
The devices of the two manufacturers often have comparable hardware, but for an Honor smartphone, you pay a few tens of less. For example, the Huawei P Smart (2019) and Honor 10 Lite are virtually identical, but you pay less for the last thirty euros. The smartphones of the sub-brand are almost only offered online to keep the costs as low as possible.
Consumers who order the Honor View 20 before January 29 receive a free Honor Watch Magic. This smartwatch is waterproof, goes seven days without charging and has a built-in heart rate monitor. The Watch Magic is from this month in the United States for sale and costs 179 euros.
