Nearly fifty smartphones and tablets from Huawei and Honor will be updated to EMUI 9.1 update in the coming months. With that, the devices will probably also receive an Android 9.0 (Pie) update.
Huawei EMUI 9.1 update planning announced
Huawei has released a new list of all smartphones that receive an EMUI 9.1 update. These devices will be equipped with the latest version of Huawei’s Android interface in the coming month. This is probably part of the Android Pie update, which is also planned for all these smartphones.
Previously Huawei announced an EMUI 9.1 update for the Mate 20 series, P20 series and Honor 10. Including the list below there are a total of 49 Android smartphones and tablets on the schedule of Huawei. Please note: not all devices have received a European release. When the updates appear exactly is also unknown.

This is new in Huawei EMUI 9.1
EMUI 9.1 can currently only be found on the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, which have recently become available in the United States. This update of the Huawei interface introduces a modified design for many icons and also adds some wallpapers. In addition, many improvements have been made in the background to make EMUI run more smoothly. For example, with this update, Huawei introduces a new file system that makes files open faster.
Another useful feature of EMUI 9.1 is that you can call the Google Assistant with the on / off button of your phone. You have to hold the button for about a second, after which the smart assistant is activated. In addition, you can still continue to use the home button at the bottom of the screen.
Cheap Huawei smartphones are missing
Many of the cheapest Huawei smartphones are missing from the list. Popular devices such as the Huawei P20 Lite and P Smart (2019) have no update planned, if we may believe this list. However, that may change.
The list is aimed at Chinese users. On the list are many Chinese devices that appeared under a different name in Europe. For example, the Huawei Nova 3i was released here as the new P Smart. It is therefore likely that the 3i update will also appear for this variant. Huawei may later release a list focused on the European market.
