The Nokia 2.2 official expands the budget range of the Finnish manufacturer. The new Android One smartphone has a front-filling screen and costs less than 120 euros.
Nokia 2.2 official: budget smartphone without frills
The device was just presented at an event in India, but will also be released in the united states later this summer. The Nokia 2.2 official has a suggested retail price of 119 euros and can be purchased here from mid-June. Just like its predecessor, the Nokia 2.1, it is one of the cheapest Android smartphones of the moment.
Despite the low price, Nokia 2.2 has excellent specifications and sleek design. The device has a 5.71 inch HD screen that fills almost the entire front. At the bottom is a narrow black bar, at the top a small notch for the selfie camera. On the side, there is a button with which you immediately activate the Google Assistant. A fingerprint scanner is missing; for that, you need the slightly more expensive Nokia 3.2.
The most important Nokia 2.2 specifications are as follows:
- 5.71 inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1520 by 720 pixels
- MediaTek Heli A22 chipset with 2 or 3 GB memory
- 16 or 32GB storage space built in (expandable)
- Runs on Android 9.0 (Pie), with three years of (security) updates
- The 13-megapixel camera on the back, 5-megapixel camera on the front
- Battery capacity: 3000 mAh
Assured of updates
Just like all Nokia smartphones, the 2.2 runs on Android One. That is a version of Android with virtually no changes from the manufacturer. Included apps and other bloatware are therefore missing. Nokia also guarantees at least two major updates, to Android Q and Android R. The Nokia 2.2 also receives monthly security patches for at least three years after the release.
Nokia has released several other, mainly cheaper, smartphones in recent weeks. For example, the Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 have recently become available. The company also recently launched a real flagship, the Nokia 9 PureView. This smartphone is equipped with no less than five cameras at the rear.
