Samsung Galaxy A40 officially announced

Samsung is expanding its Galaxy A series with the Galaxy A40, the cheapest device in the series for the time being. The smartphone is equipped with a relatively large screen, smooth hardware, and a dual camera. The device will soon be available at various web stores, including Belsimpel. The suggested retail price is 249 euros and there are four colors: black, white, blue and coral pink.Galaxy A40

The device is the successor to the Galaxy A6, which appeared a little less than a year ago. Compared to the previous model, the screen is larger, the hardware more powerful and there is an extra camera on the back. The most important specifications at a glance:

  • 5.9 inch AMOLED screen with full HD resolution
  • 16 + 5-megapixel camera on the back, 25-megapixel camera on the front
  • Runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) with OneUI interface
  • Octa-core chipset, 4 GB memory
  • 64GB storage space built in, expandable with a memory card
  • Fingerprint scanner, dual-sim and supports fast charging

The design has also been improved considerably. The Galaxy A6 still had big black edges on either side of the image, the Galaxy A40 has an ‘Infinity U’ screen. At the top of the image is a small, U-shaped notch for the selfie camera. Furthermore, there is only a small black bar at the bottom. Because of the narrower edges, the screen in the A40 is larger, while the device itself is slightly more compact than its predecessor. The back is sloping, with two cameras on the side and a fingerprint scanner in the middle.

On the back is a primary camera of 16 megapixels, with an aperture of f / 1.9. This is supported by a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens with a viewing angle of 123 degrees. You can take wider pictures with this. The camera app is also equipped with smart image recognition so that the settings are automatically adjusted based on what is on screen.

Galaxy A series is growing

Samsung recently released the first teaser for an event on 10 April. That would revolve around the Galaxy A series, and the Galaxy A40 was expected to be revealed there. That device now appears to be presented earlier. The Galaxy A90 will be presented that day, a more expensive device in the series equipped with an extendable camera.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 will also be available in stores this week. It has a suggested retail price of 349 euros but is equipped with three cameras on the back and a fingerprint scanner in the screen.
