Samsung has started the rollout of Android 9.0 (Pie) for the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018). Last year’s popular midrange runs on the latest version of the mobile operating system. Read here what’s new.
Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) Android Pie update
Website Sammobile writes that the Android Pie update is now available for the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2019). You can also download the latest version in the United States, which involves an update file of around 1.4 GB. It is therefore smart to download the update via a Wi-Fi connection.
You will automatically receive a notification if you can download Android Pie on your Galaxy A8 (2018). You can also check manually by going to ‘Settings’ and choosing ‘Software update’.
With Android Pie, Samsung is also introducing its new skin: One UI. In addition, the update includes the March 2019 security patch, making the Galaxy A8 (2018) completely protected again. Pie is the second major update for the A8 since the phone received Android Oreo last year.
It is therefore not obvious that the smartphone will also be updated to the new Android Q in the future. You can read on the official website of Samsung that the phone will be provided with security updates until at least December 2019.
This brings Android Pie
With Android 9.0 (Pie) and One UI, the Galaxy A8 (2018) is equipped with the latest software. The update adds, among other things, a night mode that gives the display warmer colors in the evening, which is more comfortable for your eyes. Previously, Samsung already released an Android Pie update for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. The Galaxy Note 8, S8 and S8 Plus received the Pie update a little later. Various cheaper Samsung phones will be updated in the coming months.
The software is also optimized for large smartphone screens and makes it easy to operate apps with one hand. For example, if you have a chat or call app such as WhatsApp open and you want to search for a contact, the type window appears at the bottom of the screen so that you can enter a name directly.
