The Samsung Galaxy A80 is for sale in the United States from mid-May and has a suggested retail price of 649 euros. The device is available in three colors: gold (‘Angel Gold’), white (‘Ghost White’) and black (‘Phantom Black’). This makes the A80 about as expensive as the Samsung Galaxy S10e, which has dropped quite a bit since its release last month.
Three tilting cameras on the back
The 6.7-inch AMOLED screen of the Galaxy A80 fills almost the entire front. Only at the bottom is a narrow black bar. The device has no notch or camera hole. You can also use the camera on the back for selfies instead. If you open the selfie app of the camera app, part of the back will automatically tilt upwards so that it protrudes above the rest of the image.
The primary camera is one of 48 megapixels. The image from that camera is compressed into one sharp, more colorful 12-megapixel photo. In addition, there is a wide-angle 8-megapixel lens with a viewing angle of 123 degrees. This allows you to shoot wider, almost panorama-like photos. The third lens is a depth sensor, with which you add a bokeh effect to photos and videos.
In the camera app, you will find various smart features that further improve your photos. For example, Samsung uses artificial intelligence to automatically recognize thirty different types of scenes and adjust the settings accordingly. With the Super Steady mode, you shoot sharp videos with a lot of movement, and the Live Focus mode uses the depth sensor for better portrait photos.
The fast battery is quickly full
The Samsung Galaxy A80 official has a relatively large battery, with a capacity of 3700 mAh. That should be more than enough to use the device for a full day without any intermediate charging. The device is supplied with a 25 Watt charger. That is more powerful than the 15 Watt charger that comes with the Galaxy S10 series. In 30 minutes the battery is therefore again 55 percent full.
There is an optical fingerprint scanner in the screen. Put your finger in the right place in the image, and the device will be unlocked. The Galaxy A80 is a combination of glass and a metal frame. The device runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) and receives regular security updates for three years after the release.
