The Samsung Galaxy M series is coming to the United States, as Golobal Tech has discovered. The company will soon be selling the Galaxy M20 Power here, a cheap Android smartphone with a large battery.
Samsung Galaxy M20 Power release
The Samsung Galaxy M20 Power will soon be available in the United States. The unannounced smartphone can already be reserved at Bol.com, discovered Golobal Tech. The device has a suggested retail price of 239 euros but is already offered at the web store for 209 euros. An exact release date is still unknown. The Samsung United States was not immediately available for comment.
It is an Android smartphone with a large battery of 5000 mAh. In practice, that is soon enough to use the device for two or even three days without any intermediate charging. The device also comes with a fast 15-watt charger, which means that after 30 minutes the battery is 30 to 40 percent full. The other Galaxy M20 Power specifications are as follows:
- 6.3-inch screen with a resolution of 2340 by 1080 pixels
- 13 + 5-megapixel camera on the back, 8-megapixel camera on the front
- Exynos 7904 chip with eight cores, 4GB memory
- 64GB storage space, expandable with a memory card
- Runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo)
- Battery capacity: 5000 mAh
The Galaxy M20 has a large screen that fills almost the entire front. At the top of the image is a small notch for the selfie camera. On the back, you will find, in addition to the dual camera, also a fingerprint scanner. The second lens is used as a wide-angle lens, with which you can take wider pictures. This makes it a fairly complete budget smartphone.
The downside is that the device is still on Android 8.1 (Oreo), a version of the operating system that is now one and a half years old. It is unknown if and when the Galaxy M20 will receive an update to Android Pie. Samsung does, however, guarantee at least one security update per quarter for all its smartphones.
Samsung introduced the Galaxy M series in India earlier this year. The series is therefore primarily intended for emerging markets, where Samsung suffers from fierce competition with brands such as Xiaomi and Huawei. With the Galaxy M series, Samsung attempts to offer striking, extensive smartphones for a lower price. Now the series also seems to be coming to the United States. We have asked the manufacturer if other devices from the series also appear here, but have not yet received a response.
The manufacturer has recently expanded its range of cheap Android smartphones considerably. The Galaxy A10, Galaxy A20e and Galaxy A40 also appear this month in the United States. All three devices have a suggested retail price of fewer than 250 euros.
