Samsung Galaxy S10 gets night mode with latest update

Samsung Galaxy S10An update for the Samsung Galaxy S10 introduces a night mode for the camera. It is unfortunately not a completely new feature, but an existing feature that you can now select manually. This is how it works. Night mode for the Galaxy S10.

Night mode for the Galaxy S10

Night mode for the Galaxy S10The latest update for the Samsung Galaxy S10 is only available in Switzerland at the time of writing, but will soon have to come to other countries – including the United States. It is important to know that it is not a completely new feature. The Galaxy S10 series had like a night function in the camera app called ‘Bright Night’. That feature was automatically enabled in dark situations, but you could not select it manually.

This will change with the update. As you can see on the screenshot on the right, a new ‘tab’ appears in the camera app to use night mode. If you want to take photos in this position, you must keep the Galaxy S10 still for a few seconds so that the camera can collect enough light. Various other high-end smartphones have a similar function, such as the Google Pixel 3, Huawei P30 and P30 Pro.

Unfortunately, Samsung has not made any improvements to the night mode, so the photo quality is not improved. And that’s a shame because the software from Samsung is not as good as that from Google and Huawei. It is true that Samsung can implement improvements with future software updates, although the manufacturer has not said anything about this.
