‘Leaked renders from Sony Xperia XA3 show unique display’

Sony Xperia XA3 screenSony seems to be working on the Sony Xperia XA3 screen, a smartphone with a striking elongated display. The screen has a ratio of 21 by 9, which is much longer than the 18 by 9 and 19 by 9 screens of other phones. The device is expected to be unveiled at the end of this month.

Sony Xperia XA3 screen: you should know this

There have been rumors about the Sony Xperia XA3 for months. Sony would unveil the smartphone at the CES in early January but did not. The XA3 is now expected at the MWC, the world’s largest telecom fair that will start on February 24 in Barcelona. Dozens of press renders of the phone are now on the street, thanks to WinFuture.

The most striking characteristic of the Xperia XA3 is the elongated screen, which according to various sources has a 21 by 9 ratio. That is special because smartphones had a 16 by 9 screen for years, and not so long ago switched to 18 by 9 and 19 by 9. These displays are longer, so more text fits on the screen. However, when playing video, black borders are visible. A 21 by 9 display is a bit longer and can, therefore, display even more content.

The elongated screen, however, also makes the XA3 physically larger, which is reinforced by the fairly large bar above the display. A notch or camera hole in the screen is therefore not necessary. According to the rumors, the screen measures 5.9 inches and the resolution is 2560 by 1080 pixels (full-HD).

WinFuture stipulates that it is not clear whether the smartphone on the plates is the XA3 or the larger and more powerful XA3 Plus. It would in any case not be the Xperia XZ4, which also gets a 21 by 9 display.

Specifications of the XA3

The Sony Xperia XA3 would run on an older Snapdragon 660 processor with 4GB RAM. The storage memory is said to weigh 64GB, with a micro SD card. Furthermore, the XA3 has a double camera on the back (23 and 8 megapixels) and a fingerprint scanner in the right-hand side. The smartphone receives a 3500 mAh battery that charges via a USB-C connection. It is still unclear whether the XA3 has a headphone input. Sony deleted this port last year on its more expensive devices but would bring him back on the new Xperia XZ4.

Sony has planned a press conference at the MWC and will probably announce the XA3, XA3 Plus, and XZ4. Android Planet is present at the fair and will publish extensive hands-ons of the smartphones.
