Redmi is the budget brand of Xiaomi, one of the most popular smartphone makers in China. The Redmi 7 is the new entry model from the manufacturer. Although the device is currently only presented for the Chinese market, chances are that it will appear in the United States later this year, just like the Redmi 6.

The Redmi 7 has a 6.3-inch screen with an HD resolution of 1520 by 720 pixels. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 632 chip, a relatively smooth consisting of eight cores of 1.8 GHz. The standard model has 2GB of memory and 16GB of storage space. The smartphone runs on Android 9.0 (Pie), with the modified MIUI interface from the manufacturer.

On the back is a dual camera of 12 and 2 megapixels. The latter lens is used as a depth sensor, with which you add a bokeh effect to your photos. At the front is an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The device has a relatively large 4000 mAh battery, which is around 30 percent larger than other smartphones of this size. This capacity should be sufficient for two days without charging.

Recommended retail price

The Android smartphone in China has a suggested retail price of only 92 euros for a model with 2GB of memory and 16GB of storage. Redmi also sells variants with 3GB / 32GB and 4 / 64GB, for 105 and 130 euros respectively. If the smartphone soon appears in the United States, the price is probably a bit higher due to VAT and import costs. The previous model, the Redmi 6, is sold here from 130 euros.

Xiaomi is also active in the United States market from this spring. The company will soon announce the United States release of the Xiaomi Mi 9. This flagship is equipped with the same hardware as top devices, including a triple camera and a fingerprint scanner in the screen. Where you pay around 800 to 1000 euros in competition, the Mi 9 has a suggested retail price of only 449 euros.
