Users of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 can now download the Android Pie update. The new One UI is also included.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie update now available
Samsung has started to roll out Android 9.0 (Pie) for the Galaxy Note 8. The update is first rolled out to users who have purchased their device via Vodafone. You automatically receive a notification with the message that you can download the software, but via the Smart Switch software you get it immediately:
- Download and install Smart Switch on your computer if you have not already done so, Samsung’s app for transferring data and updating Android;
- Connect your Note 8 via a USB cable and make a backup. So you can always retrieve your data if something goes wrong unexpectedly;
- Tap ‘Update’ and follow the instructions on the screen.
The Android Pie update is relatively hefty, which may take a while before it is downloaded. During the update, your device can also restart several times. Do you rather wait for the automatic update? Then go to ‘Device info’ in the settings menu and tap ‘Download updates manually’.
Android Pie with One UI: this is new
Thanks to the update you can not only work with Android 9.0 but also with One UI, the new Samsung interface. Icons and colors have been given a fresh lick of paint. Moreover, the device is easier to use with one hand, by moving some buttons more to the back of the screen. So you can tap WhatsApp at the bottom of the screen to search for contacts.
Android Pie also adds some smart features that make you healthier with your device. Thanks to the new night mode, the colors of your screen become ‘warmer’ in the evening, which is better for your eyes. You can also get started with Digital Welfare, a package of tools that prevent smartphone addiction.
