Xiaomi is one of the first at Mobile World Congress 2019 and comes with various announcements. For example, the manufacturer presents its first 5G smartphone, which is remarkably affordable.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G announced
During a presentation in Barcelona, Xiaomi presented a 5G version of the Mi Mix 3, a device that appeared late last year. The smartphone is called the ‘Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G’ and is almost identical to the regular Mi Mix 3, but therefore has 5G support. In addition, the phone has the Snapdragon 855 chip, the latest Qualcomm processor that we will see in many more high-end smartphones this year.
The 5G support enables much higher up and downloads speeds, making your mobile internet connection much faster. In addition, 5G offers higher bandwidth. The larger capacity must be one of the biggest problems of 4G: the poor coverage and lower speed at busy locations.
Apart from the processor and the 5G modem, the Mi Mix 3 has not been changed. That means that the smartphone still has a front-filling 6.39-inch screen, where you can slide the back up to take a selfie. Furthermore, the phone has a dual camera (12 + 12 megapixel) and two front cameras, where one lens provides a beautiful portrait effect with your selfies. The phone is also equipped with a USB port, the fingerprint scanner on the back, 3200 mAh battery and fast charging.
Particularly striking about the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G is the price. The smartphone, which will appear in May, will cost 599 euros and is therefore considerably more affordable than other 5G phones.
Mi 9 to Europe
In addition, Xiaomi announced that the Mi 9 will come to Europe for 449 euros. The smartphone was recently presented in China but is coming to many more countries soon. The device has high-end specifications, a front-filling screen, three cameras at the back and a 3300 mAh battery that is fully charged in just over an hour.
Also, wireless charging with 20 Watt is supported, making wireless charging many times faster than other Android smartphones that have this function. These are the most important specifications at a glance:
